This latest version fixes a few issues. The first is a force-close that occurs when word-wrap is enabled. The second is an issue that prevents the app from being opened from within the Market. Thanks to the users who pointed it out.

The final issue was being caused by the ViewFlipper that switched between displaying the editor and the load screen. The load screen was removed to resolve the issue. This version merely displays the loading bar as files are loaded.

The latest update solves some horrible issues, adds some featues, and most likely introduces a whole new set of quirks (errors?).

So what’s new? The first thing that a user will notice is the EULA that is displayed the first time the app is run. More than anything, this is a disclaimer stating your data may be lost to a deep dark void never to return. This hopefully will not be the case, but the comments indicate prior issue with this so…yeah.

Moving on, the app now opens to a home screen displaying a few common tasks to help a user get started. The Activity tentatively has icons for creating a new document, opening the most recent document, viewing a list of recent documents, opening a document from the device, and viewing app settings.

As a move away from the default boring Activity titles, TxtPad 2.5 has incorporated an Actionbar. The Actionbar is meant to provide some semblance of the functionality of the Actionbar introduced in Honeycomb (Android 3.0). It hosts an icon in the left corner that serves as a “Home Activity” button for the app. This is followed by the Activity title and any additional buttons of which the Activity may make use.

Added option to autodetect charset/encoding of file
Removed default file extension option from settings.

Editor Activity

Moved Help and About to Settings Activity
Added Preference activity for changing the text appearance in the editor.
Added option to change line spacing.
Added ability to display line numbers in editor. Line numbers will not show if line wrapping is enabled.
Added a load screen so it doesn’t look like the app is about to ANR on large files

Recent Files Activity

Fixed Issue where the same document may appear in the list multiple times.
Added path to each item so the file name appears over the path

File Browser Activity

Added Actionbar
Added Toolbar.
Added view displaying current directory.
